The Mermaid Mural

In preparation for our nursery my mom and I painted a mermaid mural this weekend. I am so proud of the painting. It is so magical! I believe bringing magic and imagination into your child's life is one of the most important things a parent can do. People need to believe in their dreams and their ability to believe starts at a young age. This brings me to another thought. My experiences as a graduate student and as an employee for several companies have made me realize the importance of fighting the norm. It was very interesting to me that several people commented on my choice of color scheme for the blog. They were not accustomed to non-traditional colors and probably felt it was a little unprofessional. I challenge our classmates to think outside the box. Go bold and make yourself uncomfortable. It is only during these moments that we grow.
